BOOKS ON ARCHITECTURE
The undated edition which appeared from the shop of Claude Jombert and the Barbou brothers, Jean(-Joseph) and Joseph, is a reprint of the edition published in 1689 by the “merchant engraver” François Jollain the elder. It has the same characteristics: one hundred engraved pages of text and illustrations preceded by eight printed pages for the preface and the title page, the printers being satisfied to change the address and the date on the title page which keeps the comment even though it was null and void. (Seconde édition augmentée des piedestaux de chaque ordre suivant l’intention des mêmes autheurs). The plates are copies, sometimes inverted, of the ones in Jollain’s 1689 edition and the preface was repeated as it was.
