BOOKS ON ARCHITECTURE
The Venitian edition of the Annotationes published in 1557 is obviously a renewal of the princeps edition published in Rome thirteen years earlier. The printer Giordano Ziletti bought some copies of the 1544 edition (colophon by Dossena, the same initials, an identical word spacing, same pagination error: ‘16’ instead of ‘15’) ; he brought the copies up to date with a new title page mentioning the illustrations. He reset the introductory notes and the preface in which he did nothing more than substitute his name to Dossena’s (“Jordanus Ziletus studiosis s.”), as well as the brief text on the qualities of the architect, the “ Vitruvius’ life” and the indices.
