BOOKS ON ARCHITECTURE
The twenty-eight "Petites vues" are perspective studies representing buildings, cross sections of buildings and views of imaginary cities. They were copied from a collection by Hans Vredeman de Vries published by Hieronymus Cock in 1562, dedicated to Cardinal Antoine de Granvelle. The copies, reduced in size and inverted, are very inferior in quality to the original engravings. The copy in the Bibliothèque nationale de France (Cabinet des Estampes, Ed. 2c, pet. in-folio), is made up of only twenty-four plates.
