BOOKS ON ARCHITECTURE
This edition, like those published by the Bodmers during the 17th century, brings together Blum’s treatise on the orders (Von den fünff Sülen grundtlicher Bericht) published starting in 1550, his collection of antique buildings (Ein kunstrych Buch von allerley Antiquiteten) which appeared for the first time around 1560, and, under the title Architectura antiqua, sixteen engravings totally independent from Blum’s work. They are woodcuts attributed to Rudolph Wyssenbach, taken from the collection called Temples et bâtiments antiques by Androuet du Cerceau, already published independently in 1561 in Zurich by Jacob and Tobias Gessner under the title Wunderbarliche kostliche Gemält, ouch eigentliche Contrafacturen mancherley schönen gebeüwen.
