BOOKS ON ARCHITECTURE
Alessandro Vecchi reedited the 1584 book. The title page bears the name of the publisher ("In Venetia, Appresso Alessandro de' Vecchi. MDCXXIX"). Barbaro's dedication to the Cardinal de Ferrare was replaced by the dedication by Vecchi to Sforza Ponzone (ff. a 2-3). The preface that Alessandro attributed to himself is in fact that of Francesco de' Franceschi (1567 and 1584). The title of the frontispiece was modified (Il Perfetto Vitruvio Con li commenti del Barbaro) and Franceschi's headword was replaced by the note "Si vende in Venetia, alla Libraria della Gatta". The plates were reengraved. Frédérique Lemerle (Centre national de la recherche scientifique,
