BOOKS ON ARCHITECTURE
Le théâtre de l’art de charpentier by Mathurin Jousse, followed by the "Bref traité des cinq ordres des colonnes", as in the preceding editions dated 1627 and 1650, was published again in 1659 at La Flèche, this time by the widow of Georges Griveau, who had died in 1654. The only modification was the address on the title page. Errors in page numbering which remained in the 1650 edition were corrected for the time being: pages 136 (numbered 126), 161 (numbered 461), 172 (numbered 167) were thus reestablished. The number missing from illustration XLIV was added (p. 73). A few errors remain: plate LXXXVI is still missing. The reprint attests to the great success of this work, the only one of its kind. This edition is extremely rare. Frédérique Lemerle (Centre nationale de la recherche scientifique,
