« Extra oppidum, loco, qui vulgo la Roquette dicitur, supra duas columnas erat Ara illa prægrandis, execrandaque, Cæsari Augusto dicata, in qua imitari solitus est, Hispanorum sacrificandi mos, nempe vt quotannis certis temporibus duo immolarentur iuvenes, qui ad hoc Sacrificium erant dedicati, sumptuque publicò egregie saginati : eorum cruore peracta mactatione aspergebatur populus, qui huic execrando sacrificio aderat. » |
