Certain historians have identified the site of the Daurade as that of a temple dedicated to Isis; others with a temple dedicated to Jupiter. That a Roman temple existed in the Daurade area is certain; the divinity to which is was dedicated is not

« in templo Iovis […] : vbi nunc ecclesia beate Marie Deaurate sita est. […] [12] in illo Deaurate templo (quod templum iouis dicebant) […]. His igitur temporibus Tholose precipua duo templa fuere : Iouis scilicet, et Apollinis. Iouis autem templum erat in ecclesia que nunc vocatur nostra domina Deaurate. »
