| Remarks | The triumphal arch was discovered in the middle of the 16th century, when it was decided to demolish the 'Château Narbonnais', built on the remains of a square-plan Roman fortress (comprising four corner towers and a central courtyard) located beyond the city walls. The arch was incorporated within the fortifications at a later date |

« Qui voudra voir une sommaire description de l’estat, auquel estoit le Chasteau Narbonois, [257] quelque temps avant l’an mille cinq cens cinquante cinq, il la trouvera dans l’Histoire Tolosaine de Noguiez (sic), au Chapitre troisiéme de son livre premier, auquel lieu il represente aussi un portal qui se montre Romain, lequel se trouva de son temps ensevely dans la terre, lors qu’on acheva d’abbatre le dit Chasteau craignans que par sa cheute il n’offensat quelqu’un. » |
