« et sub Pupeto est domus antiquissima quæ ab illis aquæductibus per canales compositis ad Canales appellatur, eo quod ipsis canalibus propinqua erat et eorum exitui multum accedebat. »
= “At the foot of the Pipet Hill is a very old house which is known as the 'Maison des Canaux', which refers to the conduits of the aqueduct, since these conduits, as well as several of their outlets, by which they could be entered, were situated nearby.”
