BOOKS ON ARCHITECTURE
In 1620 Johannes Janssonius (Jan Janssen) (1588-1664), bookseller and printer to the king of Sweden, known among other things for the atlases he printed with his father-in-law Jodocus Hondius, brought out a quadrilingual version of Vignola in his birthplace, Arnhem. He repeated the text published by Willem Jansz (1617, 1619) after amending and modernizing it. The plates were re-engraved and for the most part inverted (Vignola’s portrait, the plate of the five orders, the orders). Frédérique Lemerle – 2016 Critical bibliography
