Proof of the long-lasting success of its aesthetics in the 17th century, Dietterlin’s Architectura was republished almost unchanged in 1655. The same frame was used for the title, but with a slightly longer text. The author’s portrait was deleted. The copperplates were used again in the same order; the word “finis” was added to the last engraving (209).
A facsimile of all the plates with a modern French translation appeared in Liège in 1862 (Le Livre de l’architecture, recueil de planches donnant la division, symétrie et proportion des cinq ordres...). In the same way as Vredeman de Vries whose work was also republished during the same years (Recueil d’Arabesques... et Recueil de Caryatides..., Brussels, 1871), Dietterlin participated in the “neo-Renaissance” style which was in fashion in Belgium in the 19th century.
