French

A data base of books on architecture manuscripts and prints published in France, written in French or translated into French during the 16th and 17th centuries, it consists of general treatises, treatises on fortifications, collections of models, books of ornamentation, technical treatises (perspective, carpentry, stereotomy, greenhouses, gardens), and accounts of ceremonial entries. Access to the works takes two forms: consultation in image, or downloading the text transcribed (spelling and punctuation modernised). Each entry consists of a bibliographical note compiled by specialists in the institutions owning the work and a scientific description drafted by the best French and foreign specialists. Each description is brought up to date regularly. A critical bibliography follows every one.
