After the Roman edition of Giovanni Andrea Dossena in 1544, Philandrier published his Annotationes the following year in Paris. The edition was shared between booksellers Jacques Kerver and Michel Fezandat (Lemerle 2000, p. 23). The book appeared in octavo format, slightly larger (16.8 cm.) than the princeps edition (15.6 cm.) The text was recomposed and the illustrations are faithful copies of those in the 1544 edition. The Roman characters which replaced the capital letters in the extracts preceding the commentaries create a text more visually uniform, but render its presentation less clear since the commentaries are more difficult to isolate. Whereas the errata in the 1544 edition were taken into account and the full page illustrations appearing in 1544 at the end of the volume were incorporated in their right place (pp. 285 and 286), alas, many errors in the page numbering crept in.
