This manuscript at the Bibliothèque nationale de France has been wrongly identified by Pierre Moisy as a text written by Étienne Martellange. It is the preliminary text to the illustrated edition published by Mathurin Jousse in 1635 in La Flèche.
Contrary to the original editions of Viator’s treatise, the French translation from then on preceded the Latin text. In addition, some chapters were gathered together in two (1-2, 3-4, 6-7). On the other hand chapters 5, 8, 9 and 10 each stand alone. There are only four diagrams (chapters 2, 3, 4 and 5) appearing in the Latin text (ff. 3v°, 4v°, 5v°).
